I had read about this Thai restaurant and the menu was not your average menu and looked more creative. So we went all the way to Los Alamitos to try this place for lunch. One word could describe the dishes we tried, one dimensional and that dimension would be sweet. We started with the Crispy Petite Vegetable Rolls. The rolls were your typical veggie roll, but I enjoyed the crispy sweet Yam and Taro Nest. Our second dish was Roasted Minced Beef Larb. It came with Toasted Rice, mixed Herbs, Cucumber and Sugar Snap Peas. I thought this was the most successful dish we had. It was flavorful but a little too wet from the sauce. So far it was a good start. Our next dish was the most disappointing Papaya Salad I had ever tried. It was beyond sweet. There was no balance of sweetness to sourness and the salad was sitting on a pool of sugary sauce. I told my husband at least our last dish which was a curry dish could not be a sweet dish. I spoke too soon. Short-Rib Panang was so sweet we could not believe it. I don’t think I ever had such a sweet Panang before. The short ribs were cooked tender, but that was about it. This was the most disappointing Thai experience we have ever had in any Thai restaurant in this country. We packed some of the food to go so I could fix them at home and make them more edible. The Papaya salad was beyond repair due to all the sugary sauce and no amount of vinegar could have saved it. The Panang was not much better.
