Wild Mushroom Toast
Soft Scrambled Eggs, House Cure Ham, Red Wine Sauce
Great Toast with fluffy eggs, umami from the flavorful mushrooms and the house cured ham didn’t hurt either!!
Fried Egg, Stewed Tomatoes and Peppers, Black Kale, Yogurt, Cilantro, Baguette
We really enjoyed this dish and I even made my own version. Great flavor from the high quality produce. It is no wonder, because I have seen Chef Walter Manzke at Santa Monica Farmer’s Market the past couple of times we went there. The tart yogurt was the perfect topping for this dish. The baguette was flavorful and crisp. A very comforting dish.
Chocolate Bundt Cake
This was really good. A moist cake with a nice chocolaty flavor.
Gjusta is a Bakery/market/café in Venice, CA. The location leaves something to be desired. We were surprised to see a large number of homeless residing in the alley nearby. My husband almost drove away, but I convinced him to give this place a try. As with Gjelina, there is no signage. Thankfully there were a few people seating outside on the sidewalk as is the case with GTA.
Chef-owner Travis Lett and his business partner Fran Camaj are the people behind Gjusta. Pastry Chef Nicole Mournian runs the pastry program and she is famous for her award wining pies.
As you walk in you are surprised to see such a large bright space. There was a long counter the length of the space separated to different categories. The first thing you see is the bakery and bread area. Then you see the cheese area, smoked fish, charcuterie, Salads and prepared food section and finally the coffee counter.
There was no seating and people were either crowding along the marble bar or they were eating on the sidewalk outside. There will be a patio in the back soon. I felt the prices were a little high for the location, but the quality was high. We have to check back soon to see the progress.
My husband, the Danish lover, really enjoyed this buttery goodness.
This was so buttery and delicious with a great nuttiness from the pistachios. How come no one else thought about making baklava croissant?
A little pricey at $6 for the size, but was really good and had a deep chocolate flavor.
Moulin is a new Bakery/market/café in the Newport Beach area. I thought their prices were high for the bakery items, considering the quality.
This was not very good and was on the sweet side. Not much flavor and forgettable.
Brigitte Bardot cake or Tarte Tropezienne was pretty good. It was basically a cake with an orange flavor custard.
We always enjoy the rib tips and is the best thing you can get at Smokey Fred’s BBQ. Lot’s of flavor with a great smokiness.
A big let down. No sign of smokiness and no flavor plus it looked grey. Never again!
The pulled pork was moist but it needed a little seasoning to bring out the porkiness.
Unfortunately I can’t remember the name but it was very good.
Dark Organic Peanut Butter
The best peanut butter truffle. The pink Himalayan salt really brought out the peanut butter flavor. The Maldon salt uptop gives it a nice texture.
Red Fire Skull
Dark chocolate with Ancho and Chipotle Chillies and Ceylon Cinnamon
Pretty good Halloween treat with a nice kick from the chillies and a little sweetness from the cinnamon.
