We tried this bakery when it first opened up and were not that impressed. When an online deal became available a few months ago I decided I give them another chance. Of course I was not in any rush and used the deal at the last minute. Another reason I picked this place was the close proximity to the newly opened Broad Museum.
It was a super hot day and at temperatures around 100 degrees, I am glad it was a short walk from the museum.
I felt the food was an OK value and surprisingly I enjoyed their food more than their bakery items. Most counter help were French and some had a hard time understanding English.

Croissant
Somebody a while ago mentioned that their French relatives liked the croissant. I found it OK and a little sweet.

North Pole Tartine Smoked Salmon, Capers, Arugula, Creamy Spread with Chives, Shallots, Country Bread
This was the highlight for me. The smoked salmon was good enough and went well with the spread. Arugula provided the necessary peppery note to the tartine. A good value.

Sunshine Prosciutto, Zucchini, Ricotta Cheese, Pine Nuts, Rosemary, Olive Oil, Garlic, Fig & Nut Bread
My husband picked this one and didn’t like it at all. When I tried it the next day I understood why. The prosciutto was sliced very thickly and was missing the great flavor you expect from a fine prosciutto.

Croque Madame Traditional French Cooked Ham, Gruyère, Bechamel Sauce, Butter, Sunny Side-Up Organic Egg, Sandwich Bread
Since my husband did not like the Sunshine tartine I ordered him the croque madame. He seemed to enjoy it.

Dark Chocolate Tart
This was not a dark chocolate tart. It had a dark chocolate glaze on the top, but the inside was on the sweet side.
