I have been wanting to check Trois Familia, a French/Mexican mash up by Ludo Lefebvre, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo for a while now and finally decided to check the place out. I knew that they did not take reservation and was planning to get there around the opening time but my husband slowed us down. We got there around 11:30 and there was already a big crowd outside waiting to be seated. I wrote my name down and waited for a while. My husband was hungry and got cranky and said rather than waiting we should go somewhere else.. I told him to hang in tight and lucky for me, I spotted a donut shop in the shopping plaza. I sent him to get himself a donut. We waited about an hour and a half to be seated. Was it worth it? It was but I am not planning on standing in a line for that long ever again, especially for the communal table seating. I felt the portions were on the small side and the prices on the high side. They had the nerve to charge $5 for a coffee. Come on, look at your place and charge accordingly. Service was helpful.

Croissan’wich with Black Beans with Sunnyside and Avocado
It was an interesting and unique dish. The croissant was buttery and the sauce kicked my butt. Very spicy but delicious. Their presentation of the croissant was laughable. I had to fix the top so I could take my picture.

Crispy Hash brown Chilaquiles, Sunny Side Up Egg, Cotija, Salsa Macho
A great dish, but a very small portion. Crispy hash brown on the pool of the most delicious carrot habanero sauce. I liked the sauce so much, I asked them if I can have some and they sold me a jar for $9.

Shrimp and Grits with Mole Butter and Pumpkin Seeds
By the time we got this dish we were kind of full. The grits was creamy with a nice kick, the shrimp were cooked right and the pumpkin seed provided a nice contrast to the dish. I don’t know if it was worth the $17 though.
