I first read about Naked City Tavern in one of the blogs that I regularly read. When I mentioned the tavern to my brother, he told me that his old friend, Chef Christopher Palmeri, is the man behind it. We have had his food at Diego (MGM) years ago. The place was super dark and that reflects my pictures. The chef was not in the house that day. Their pizza is supposedly Buffalo style. I don’t remember Buffalo pizza like that, but then again every city has many different styles of pizza.

My mom loves her clam chowder and even though she had just returned from Seattle and have had her share of chowder and against my advice, she had to order it. She laughed when she saw the portion. That served her right for not listening to me!!The funny thing is she was trying to give everyone a taste also. I had one of the clams, it was OK. Basically it needed more chowder to balance the clams.
The “Charleston Picnic” Low Country Shrimp Boil, Gulf Coast Shrimp, Sweet Corn on the cob, Red Potato, Chicken Andouille Sausage, Broth, Old Bay Toast
Since the shrimp was from the Gulf Coast, I picked this dish for my husband. My brother and father went for the same dish. That was not a smart move, because what if the dish was not successful. For the most part it was a good dish but it could have been much better had the corn was more tender. My favorite was the flavorful potatoes.
Mushrooms Seasonal Mushrooms, Roasted Garlic
I was debating between the Butternut Squash and the Mushrooms and picked the squash. After a while, our waitress told me that they searched the whole kitchen and could not find any squash!! So, I got the mushrooms and I got lucky because it was a very flavorful dish. How can you go wrong with the combination of mushroom, garlic and butter?
Strawberry Wellington Strawberries wrapped In Puff Pastry, Sweet Balsamic Strawberry Gelato, Strawberry Sauce, Fresh Garden Mint
Since I only ordered the mushrooms, I ordered this dish as my second course. It was pretty good and original. Of Course I have had banana in a puff pastry before but not strawberry. The strawberry and basil gelati were pretty good.
