I first read about a new Vietnamese restaurant within a restaurant online. Later on when I was looking for a place to have lunch at, I came across the same restaurant located in Huntington Beach. I was not sure if I wanted to gamble a meal on a restaurant that had been open just three days prior. After searching Open Table for a while and making a phone call to the restaurant to inquire about their menu, I decided to take a chance. I am glad I did, because the experience was very positive. Basically LSXO is a restaurant within the Bluegold restaurant. The chef behind the concept is Tin Vuong of Little Sister. The decor was interesting, the rap music was playing and the two waitress/bartender were dressed more for a nightclub than a restaurant. They were very nice and caring though.
“Goi du du” Green Papaya Salad Viet Beef Jerky, Peanuts, Chili Lime Vin
Our waitress recommended this salad. I have had many papaya salads and most of them are on the sweet side. Our waitress assured me that was not the case with this one. It was good but I did not enjoy it as much as the other dishes. The leftovers were even less successful and had a sweet taste to it.
Autumn Roll Sweet Potato, Jicama, Egg, Herbs, Chinese Sausage, Shrimp, Coconut Peanut sauce
Loved this roll. Plenty of fresh veggies with a very flavorful coconut peanut sauce. What is there not to love?
“bo ne” Saigon Steak & Eggs, Pate Butter Sauce, Grilled Onions & Baguette
This dish was everybody’s favorite at the restaurant so we had to order it. You got a very flavorful New York steak cooked perfectly to medium rare with charred onions sitting on a delicious pool of buttery, beefy sauce. The baguette was very crusty and even though I usually avoid white bread, I could not help myself smearing the addictive pate butter and enjoying every bite. Now I know why this dish was highly recommended.
