Since we knew about Chef Hugh Acheson, the chef/partner of the Empire State South from the Top Chef series, we gave this place a try. We liked what we had but the service was more LA style than South.
Monkey Bread Olive Oil Brioche, Maple Syrup, Pecans, Whipped Cream
My brother wanted to try this and everybody except me attacked the monkeys!! I tasted the cream and it was good.
Spinalis Puffball Mushrooms, Hakurei, Frisee, Radish, Ginger
This was the first time we have tried puffball mushrooms and it didn’t have any unique taste profile. Also it was the first time we tried the spinalis or cap steak. It was very tender and went well with the mushrooms. Frisée provided freshness and textural contrast. A very light and satisfying dish.
Octopus Squash, Farro Verde, Sweet Peppers, Charred Onion, Arugula
My mom had this and she seemed to enjoy it. I took a bite of the octopus and it was good, but not the best we have ever had.
English Muffin Country Ham, Greens, Candied Bacon, Egg, Pepper Jelly, Grits
My husband had this and he enjoyed it. I took a bite of the candied bacon and it was good if you like that sort of thing.
Housemade Granola Yogurt, Honey and Blueberries
My twin nieces had this dish and for the most part they played with it rather than eating it!!
