My husband picked this one and it was a good doughnut but nothing exciting. Banana cake with walnuts crumble topping.
Cara Cara Orange
I was not crazy about the sugary glaze but the cake had a nice orange flavor.
This was a pretty good chocolate doughnut. I tasted more chocolate than rye though.
My brother treated us one morning while visiting. We all liked the ham and egg and of course the chocolate.
It has been a while since we have been to Sidecar. Their quality is always been all over the map. Some days you get heavy donuts, some days bland donuts and other days pretty good ones, if you choose the right flavor.
Huckleberry Oregon Huckleberry Cake Doughnut with Huckleberry Glaze
This is one of their most popular flavors and my husband enjoyed it. personally I think it could use a little more huckleberry to make it a more special donut.
Choc A Lot Raised Chocolate Ring, topped with Callebaut Chocolate glaze and Cocoa Nibs
We had this twice recently. The first time it had a more heavy texture almost like a cake donut. The second time it was definitely a raised donut and was much lighter in texture. The cocoa nibs are my favorite and I was happy to see it making this donut a special one.

Green Eggs & Ham
Raised and filled with poached Egg, Niman Ranch Ham, and a house made Basil Hollandaise Sauce
My husband really liked this one. It was pretty good, but it needed a little more ham to make it a proper breakfast treat.
We have been to Taco Maria several times for lunch before and for the most part we have been happy. The last time we went there chef Carlos and his sister were not there. I got my usual caesar salad with steak and the steak was over salty. That combined with the Parmigiano, it was not a pleasant experience.
So we had to stop at Sidecar for a little sweet fix.
German Chocolate Cake

This was a pretty good chocolate cake donut. The second time we got it, it had a nice mocha taste. The topping on the other hand was a little too sugary for us.

My husband got this and didn’t care for it as much as their original version.
Hachiya Persimmon Pudding

This was surprisingly good. The persimmon cake had a nice flavor and we enjoyed the candied ginger. The crunch from the pecans added nice texture.
They haven’t had chocolate cake doughnut at Sidecar since Feb. When I asked them why, they said in hotter months the flies like to hover around the chocolate doughnuts. I guess the flies have a good taste!! My husband was craving their Cinnamon bun. On the day I stopped by, they didn’t offer it and I picked up an apple cinnamon for him. I noticed they had a gluten free chocolate and against my better judgment, I picked up one.
My husband didn’t really care for his doughnut and mine was a waste of calories and carbs. It didn’t taste that chocolaty and tasted more like a fried potato dough!! If I want fried potato, I prefer it in the form of hash brown or rösti potatoes, not a poorly fried doughnut.
pistachio cake donut was a total disappointment in texture and flavor. It was very doughy and sticky and too sweet.
This donut had a better flavor due to the blueberries but once again the texture was too doughy.
I noticed their quality is not what it used to be and I hope when they bring back my chocolate donut, it won’t have the sticky and doughy problem. Also most of their donuts has too much sugary glaze. I wish they would come up with some savory donuts.
Sidecar pays homage to the Girl Scout’s Samoa cookie… Pineapple Coconut Cake Doughnut with Pineapple glaze and toasted Coconut, finished with a drizzle of Dark Chocolate. It was a little sugary for me.
Banana Cake Doughnut with house made, creamy Nutella glaze topped with crushed Banana Chips. This one was very disappointing. It tasted very heavy and was not fried properly.

Quadruple Valrhona Chocolate with Candied Violets

They were both pretty good. The Black Velvet was on the lighter side and the Mascarpone Cream cheese glaze was not that sweet, which is a big plus in my book. The Quadruple Valrhona Chocolate with Candied Violets was a meal by itself. That’s why I usually have a lighter lunch so I can indulge in sidecar’s chocolate donuts.
This was a very rich donut with a nice Stout flavor and pretzels gave it a nice salty and crunchy taste. Unfortunately they don’t have any Chocolate cake donut for the month of December. As I said before they have to come up with a savory donut for people like me that don’t like a sugar glaze on their donut.
