Mediterranean Octopus Salad
Tomato, Cucumber, Potato, Herbs
It was a light salad. I enjoyed the crunchy cucumbers and the earthy potatoes. The octopus was grilled and was thinly sliced. I just wish that it had a little acid to brighten the flavors.
Wild Mushroom Crostada
Toast, Poached Egg, Frisee, Gruyere
this was a brunch-y dish. The bread was very hard to cut through and it was too large to be picked up without crashing on the plate. I would have liked it more if they were more generous with the cheese.
Moroccan Salmon Salad
Field Greens, Kale, Garbanzo Beans, Roasted Carrots, Toasted Almonds, Dried Apricots, Ras el Hanout Vinaigrette
The main reason we came here was for my husband to try this salad. He was not happy about the blandness of the salad. He said it needed some acid plus more of the Ras el Hanout to make it a proper Moroccan salad. The pale tomatoes didn’t help either.
Mint & Chip Sundae
Warm Chocolate Cake, Salted Peanuts, Whipped Cream
We received this dessert complements of the chef because it took forever for our food to arrive. The mint ice cream was refreshing but the chocolate cake was on the dry side.
Sapphire’s chef, Azmin Ghahreman has worked and traveled all over the world, but I think his food is on the safe side and is not flavorful enough for our palate. He is trying to appeal to Laguna’s tourists and should take more chances when it comes to his lunch menu.
