Ham and Cheese Please
We stopped here for a quick lunch and tried their very delicious Aush. It is basically Greens, Beans and Noodles. A very comforting dish to warm you up. Next was the Ham and Cheese please and I think that is my favorite sandwich in their sandwich lineup. It is smoked ham, gruyere cheese, Blueberries, Funions, field greens, Chili Mayo on rustic bacon cheese bread. Very interesting sandwich and creative. I loved the bacon cheese bread. That bread alone must have costed them a fortune.
Clockwise Curry Cauliflower, Farro salad, Quinoa salad and Tandoori Chicken
Clockwise Strawberry salad, Black beans salad, Meatballs slider, Israeli couscous and wild mushrooms
They only had been open for ten days and I was surprised at how clean and cheerful the café was. The staff was very friendly and the food was pretty good. They had sandwiches, healthy salads, pides, smoothies and great juice blends among other things. They used different artisanal breads for each sandwich. I had never seen such a variety of delicious breads anywhere.
We tried the following:
Greek pide- my husband had this and loved it. It had feta, mozzarella, roasted pepper and tomatoes. It was a big portion and perfect for hungry people, like my husband.
Veggie sandwich- I had this one and it was pretty good. It had eggplant, roasted pepper, goat cheese, olive tapenade, greens and tomatoes on a Kalamata olive bread. I loved the bread so much and I usually try to eat low carb except for French desserts !!
Ruben sandwich- Another winner sandwich with delicious raisin rye bread, gruyere, cabbage and corned beef.
Meatball sliders in a pomodoro sauce, pesto spread, mozzarella cheese on brioche mini buns.
We tried a bunch of their salads and loved the following:
Curry cauliflower with raisin and almonds
Strawberry with arugula, apples and blue cheese (My favorite)
Israeli couscous with mushrooms, parmesan and lemon truffle dressing
Black beans, corn, avocados and tomatoes
Quinoa with snow peas, date, pepper and prosciutto
Tandoori chicken with coconut, papaya and mango
We also tried their berry smoothie and Veggie DeLite . Their smoothies are only fruits and a little ice, no filler or sugar. Espresso and cappuccino was pretty good also. They also had a pretty good Pain Au Chocolat and plain croissant in the morning. They served Shangri La tea.
Overall a nice, clean café that provides great healthy food with friendly service near my parent’s neighborhood. That helped to balance out the visits to Payard with healthy, clean food. I wish we had a café like this in my neighborhood.
