The Holiday Truffles
It included the following flavors:
Marrone Pistacchio: Italian Chestnuts + Sicily’s Bronte pistachios + 45% cacao deep milk chocolate
It had a nice earthy and nutty combination.
Holiday Plum Pudding: plum + Armagnac + marzipan + 65% cacao dark chocolate
We had this last year and really enjoyed the combination of the plum and Armagnac. I didn’t taste much marzipan though.
Peppermint Candy Cane: peppermint candy cane + 65% cacao dark chocolate
It was a very refreshing truffle and a nice crunch from the candy cane.
Eggnog & Jamaican Rum: Appleton® Estate Jamaican rum + Grenadian nutmeg + ginger + Dominican white chocolate
This was another repeat from last year and even though I am not white chocolate fan the combination of the rum, ginger and nutmeg was a wining combination.
Smoked Cinnamon Praline Truffle: Smoked cinnamon sugar + I.G.P. Piemonte hazelnut + smoked turbinado sugar + 45% cocoa deep milk chocolate
This one was on the sweet side but I liked the combination of the smoked cinnamon and the Italian hazelnut.
Holiday Scotch Pine Truffle: Extract of pine + cocoa nibs + 62% cocoa dark chocolate
This was a very unique truffle and very aromatic.
We also tried their hot chocolate and that was a total letdown. I asked them the percentage of the cocoa they used for their hot chocolate and they said they used a pure one!! After I took my first sip I was shocked at how sweet it was. I returned to the store and asked them why it was so sweet and at $5 you expect better than what we received. The lady that helped us said they use a mix that contained sugar. Well, it would have been nice if they mentioned that before we placed our order. I asked them to add some almond milk so it would be less sweet, they said they were out!! So I asked for a soy milk and she poured some in my cup and handed back to me. I was shocked, is this suppose to be a hot chocolate or a cold one. I asked her can you warm it up for me and she reluctantly did that. They really need to train their staff about customer service and a basic knowledge of their product.
