This was our second time having brunch at Cadet and it did not disappoint. The place is very light and airy and there is wood burning oven adding to the ambiance. Service is always friendly and helpful.
Wood Grilled Salmon & Crisp Potato Fennel, Caper, Dill Pickled Chili, Radish
Even though I am not a big salmon fan, because it was wood grilled, I took a chance and it was really good. A very high quality salmon with overly salty crisp potatoes. The addition of the caper didn’t help either. It is shame that a lot of places over salt their potatoes. We ate some and packed the rest to eat for brunch the following day. The egg and fennel helped a bit, but there was way too many potatoes in such a small bowl.
Fried Soft Shell Crab Soft Boiled Egg, Gribiche, Arugula
The batter was a little too thick almost like a fish & chips batter, but the crab itself was sweet and meaty. The crab was atop a perfectly grilled bread and arugula. The egg and sauce gribiche added additional richness.
