After getting our Jeni’s fix we were hungry so I suggested to my husband to go to an early dinner before we head back home. I knew Night + Market Song was close by but did not realize how close it was. Even though we got there a little after 5:30 PM, the restaurant was almost full. The look of the place was more casual than the location on the West Hollywood. It almost looked like a diner. We were going to order one of the specials of the night, Jackfruit; They told us that special would not be ready for another forty minutes!! What? Why put it on the special list then?
Everything we ordered paled in comparison to the version we had at their original location.
Nam Khao Tod | Crispy Rice Salad Crispy Rice Salad w/ Soured Pork, Raw Ginger, Onion, Peanuts, Cilantro, Chile
They should change the name of this dish to onion salad. There were more onions in the salad than anything else. It must have had 10% crispy rice, so I told our waiter about the problem and he agreed that it did not look right. After a while we got a salad that might have had 5% more rice and no pork in sight. We gave up and ate the incredibly spicy salad.
moo sadoong | ‘startled pig’ Grilled Pork, Basil, Lemongrass, Garlic, Fish Sauce, Lime, Chile, Onions, Cilantro, Rice Powder
The first time we had this dish at the West Hollywood location we were in love. This time not so much. Not only it did not taste as great as the original location but the portion was smaller also.
Sai Uah | Chiengrai Herb Sausage w/ Nam Prik Noom (Spicy Chile Dip), Cucumber
We were going to order the sour sausage, but our waiter told us to try the herb one. It took a long time for our dried out sausage to arrive and let just say it was not worth the wait.
Needless to say we will not be coming back to this location.
