We have not had any luck with dining at Daniel Humm’s Eleven Madison Park in the past. Last time we were in Manhattan we were planning to have our anniversary dinner there. Universe had other plans and they were closed for renovation during the period we were there. I had no idea about their menu changes and when I tried to book a lunch this time, I was surprised that they now only offered one menu at $195 for lunch/dinner. Oh well, I guess they only wanted to cater to the upper crust. After I read that he had opened NoMad, we saved our last lunch for this place and it was great. The restaurant was comprised of a series of rooms surrounding a glass-enclosed atrium. We were seated in the fireplace room next to two French people having a 2+ hour lunch talking and sipping tea in the style of Paris.
We started with their delicious Focaccia bread. It was very good and flavorful. I already knew that I wanted the Tagliatelle with crab and Meyer lemon and it was really good. I could eat this dish every day. My husband got the Hake with Ramps and Mushrooms and he enjoyed this dish more than his Halibut at Per Se!! We declined dessert because we were planning to make our last stop at Dominique Ansel, but there were a few that sounded interesting. Prices were a little high, but definitely worth it for the high quality they offered.
