We went to Red O for lunch to celebrate my brother’s birthday. It is very rare nowadays for a restaurant, specially a nicer one, to do anything for your birthday. We were pleasantly surprised when they brought a delicious plate of churros and wished him a happy birthday.
Mexican Blue Crab Tostaditas
My twin nieces each had this dish and even though they didn’t eat the plantain chips, they loved the crab.
Hanger Steak Salad
Grilled Little Gem, Marinated Hanger Steak, Cotija, Pepitas, Cilantro, Pickled Onions, Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes, Roasted Garlic, Guajillo Dressing
I was excited to eat this salad again, but for whatever reason, it didn’t impress as much as the first time. I felt like the first time the steak had a better char and tasted more beefy. But overall still enjoyed this flavorful salad.
Lamb Mole Negro
Wood-Grilled Lamb Chops, Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Lollipop Kale, Caramelized Onion, Nut Crunch
My brother got this and he really enjoyed it. I took a bite of the flavorful lamb and it was very tender and not too gamey. The crunchy Brussels sprouts and the sweet onion were the perfect partners for the lamb. The mole was good, but my brother said he has had better one at Rick Bayless’s Frontera restaurant.
The churros were very good and they came with a very delicious chocolate sauce and an OK caramel sauce. You will always remember when the restaurant make an effort to make your day a special one.
