After I read that Belinda Leong had staged at Pierre Hermé in Paris, my hopes were high and I was really looking forward to try this bakery. For the most part we were underwhelmed with what we tried. They are famous for their Kouign Amann and as I took my first bite, I was delighted with the texture and the taste. Unfortunately the middle part had a sugary syrup that I didn’t care for. To this date my favorite Kouign Amann is from Dominique Ansel in NYC. His had a cream in a middle. The berry Kouign Amann didn’t fare much better and it was too sweet. The Chocolate Strawberry Croissant was not impressive either. It didn’t have enough chocolate and I didn’t like the texture. The Passion Fruit Bostock was pretty good and it had a nice Passion Fruit flavor. At this time my brother picked up two other items to try because he couldn’t help himself!! Chocolate Banana Almond Croissant was OK and when we parted the Croissant and looked inside, it had a thin piping of chocolate and banana. I only liked the crunchy ends of the croissant. The last item we tried was my favorite. Peanut Tart had a great taste and texture thanks to the creamy Peanut Butter, rich Ganache, crispy Peanut Feuilletine and finally the Caramelized Peanuts. How can you go wrong with this combination. I only took a small bite but I will always savor the taste. As a whole if you are in the area it is worth a stop but for me the price to satisfaction was low and the travel time was high.
