Like a pain au chocolat without a satisfaction!
Sweet Potato Danish with Walnuts
I liked this Danish. Like a good sweet potato pie but much better.
Pain au Levain
First time buying this bread. It was a good sourdough bread but my husband thought it could have been more sour.
It was good but nothing exciting.
Buckwheat cake with whipped honey yogurt and edible flowers
Very nice flavorful cake.
Pain aux Raisins
My husband’s pick. He enjoyed it.
Apple Confit and Mascarpone with Sable crust
Beyond delicious. Very tasty apple and the crust was really buttery. Mascarpone added even more goodness.
Whole Grain Cake with Chocolate
Loved this new creation. The problem was I needed a few more!
Ganache with Whole Grain Crust
Deep chocolaty goodness.
Onions, Leeks, Roasted Garlic, Roasted Tomatoes and Sunny Egg Slice
It was tasty and had a very crisp crust but at over $7, a bit pricey.
Amaranth Pear Cake
Nutty and delicious fall cake.
Apple Walnut Cake
A very good cake with plenty of apple and walnut pieces.
Amaranth Raspberry Cake
This one had raspberry preserve in the middle. Very good and not too sweet.
Bird Bread and Mini Sourdough
Their oven was being repaired and they did not have their usual line up. So, I got to try two new breads. The bird bread was a combination of millet, oat flour and seeds. It was a little sweet and tasted pretty good but it did not slice well. The sourdough was tasty and was worth a try.
The first two slices were easy to slice but it went downhill afterwards.
Strawberry Whole Grain Tart
The first fruit tart of the season. It was really good. Sweet strawberries.
It was a good rhubarb pastry.
White Strawberry Tart
As soon as I saw it on Instagram, I knew I had to go there and get one. Visually beautiful and tasty.
Raspberry Buckwheat Tart
Very comforting and tasty.
Blueberry & Peach Einkorn Tart
A nice summery tart or a cake? I can’t remember!
Blackberry Einkorn Tart
I am not sure what the creamy topping was? It tasted like a ricotta. It was pretty good.
Buckwheat Chiffon Cake
Another Instagram photo that made me stop by Seylou. It was a moist buckwheat cake with flavorful plum slices and blackberries.
Vegetarian Whole Wheat Focaccia
My brother got this and he seemed to like.
My husband, the Danish lover, could not resist ordering this. He was not that happy with it. The pastry dough was a little too thin to support the weigh of the apple slices.
Buckwheat Cake with Whipped Honey Yogurt and Edible Flowers
My pick was the winner of the group. Very moist buckwheat cake with delicious honey yogurt topping, fruit and edible flowers.
Barley Oat Cookie
It was a good oat cookie with cranberries.
Sweet Potato Bread
It tasted pretty good with plenty of warm spices.
Double Chocolate Chip Cookie
It was a little too sweet for me.
Millet Epi Bread
Very good crusty bread but it messed up the roof of our mouth.
Sauerlander 100% Whole Grain Seeded Rye
They don’t have this bread all the time. Only on Saturdays. I bought a half and it was $12. Very good hearty bread.
Pretty good. Moist and delicious.
This flavorful baguette is a combination of Whole wheat, spelt and millet. A very hearty bread.
Blueberries and Butter
Black Truffle Butter and Lion’s Mane Mushroom
At $18, it is their most expensive bread but it is large enough to justify the price. It was nutty and delicious.
Einkorn Toast with Buffalo Mozzarella, Avocado, Persian Cucumber and Za’atar
It was good but nothing too exciting.
Whole Wheat Almond Chocolate Croissant
Pretty good croissant with plenty of almond paste and a little chocolate.
Pain aux raisins
My husband likes Pain aux raisins and he enjoyed it.
Great texture and taste. Very addicting.
100% Whole Wheat Croissant
Very complex whole grain taste.
100% Whole Wheat Chocolate Croissant
Great buttery croissant with dark chocolate center.
I was told it was a combination of spelt and whole cracked amaranth. It was a nutty, crusty loaf.
Chocolate Sorghum Brownie
It had a deep chocolate flavor but a little too sweet for me.
Great texture and complex taste.
Persimmon Mint Croissant
They called it a croissant but it looks more like a Danish to me. It smelled and tasted great. Ripe, luscious persimmon and fragrant mint with a little creme in the middle. What is there not to like?
When I read that Seylou a new bakery was going to mill local whole grains right in their bakery in order to make hearty, nutritious bread in wood burning oven, I was beyond excited. Specially reading that one of the owners, Jonathan Bethony, worked at the Washington State University’s Bread Lab. We first stopped in the morning to try their croissants. I was told that their bread was coming out at 1:00 p.m. When we walked in, we assumed there was a short line but we were so wrong. The line was stretched throughout the shop. There must have been at least forty people in line!! An old guy behind us said, “it better be worth it”. I am sure he was satisfied. The place has been only soft open a few short days and their normal hours started the weekend we visited, so I don’t know how all these people found out about the bakery. I guess everybody is as hungry as me for a delicious, nutritious bread and baked goods.
100% Whole Wheat Chocolate Croissant
Really good croissant with a flavorful dark chocolate.
100% Whole Wheat Croissant
I did not know what to expect and was blown away with the complex earthy, buttery delicious taste of this croissant. At $4.75 higher than most croissant but non of them have the complex delicious taste.
Whole Grain Cheddar and Jalapeño Scone
A very hearty delicious scone with plenty of cheese and enough Jalapeño.
Mischbrot 100% freshly milled whole wheat flour, rye, buckwheat
A very good bread but because it was so moist, it was a nightmare to slice. It was worth it though. Very earthy and crusty bread.
Horse Bread Whole wheat, sorghum, millet, legumes, camelina seeds and mustard seeds
I loved this bread. So nutty, earthy and delicious. The crust was really good also.
Whole Wheat Coffee Éclair
It was a little flatter than usual. The coffee filling was really good.
This must be one of the best if not the best almond croissants I have ever had. It is the healthiest and the tastiest for sure. It smelled amazing also. I have to ask them what is in the middle besides almond paste that tastes so good.
